Website Monitor

JOOMLA ONLY

Monitors the website via cURL, checking its HTTP status code (see HTTP status codes for reference). A response in the 4xx-5xx range means the site is not reachable by the public; the site is then marked offline and notifications start going out.

Website monitor

Two checkboxes control it per site:

  • Enabled - turns monitoring on for this site.
  • Send email if offline - sends a notification when the site goes offline, up to a maximum of 10 emails to avoid flooding the inbox. Deleting the offline history (see below) resets this counter.

The offline history table lists every past outage, with the HTTP code returned, the error message, and the timestamp.

This feature requires a scheduled task, configured one of two ways:

  • Joomla Scheduled Tasks (recommended) - create a task of type Securitycheck Pro Control Center - Website Monitor under System > Scheduled Tasks. Works on any hosting: Joomla's own lazy scheduler can trigger it, or a URL-based (HTTP) cron job pointing to Joomla's Web Cron URL.
  • Server CRON job (CLI) - run php /path_to_your_joomla_installation/cli/joomla.php controlcenter:monitor.

A run every 10 minutes is a reasonable starting point.
